Nepal: How Culture Affects Mental Health
Gareth Prew's practice centers around expressing and breaking taboos surrounding mental health in Western culture; this project is no different in the respect that it is expressing the affects of South Asian Socio-Culture on his mental health, and in turn trying to cut down the taboo surrounding the issues not only in South Asian but also Global culture.

As Prew walks through his journey; beyond having control over it, he goes through ups and downs, moments were captured brilliantly through his vibrant abstract photographs.

His Conceptual works simply tells the story of his state of mind using perfectly crisp, sharp images, to blurred abstract image, and to show his darkest moments a completely black image.

All photographs were taken during his LASANAA Artist in Residency at NexUs Culture Nepal & visiting places within and beyond Kathmandu, be it alone or with good friends made during his stay, or the NexUs family.

His ability to adapt and blend into Asian/Nepali Culture not only made him much happier and healthier, but gave him comfort to be who he is with his emotional well being.
